Choosing the Right Fragrance
Confused about what perfume to buy Or on a look out to adopt a new signature scent? Follow this guide to help you pick a new perfume.
Do your research
When choosing the right scent for you, always do your research and get familiar to the lingo of the fragrance world.
Pick Out the Fragrance Family
What kind of fragrances do you like the most — earthy and warm scented ones or bright and floral smells or light and refreshing perfumes? According to the fragrance families choose one. Also consider the notes — top notes, heart notes and base notes— when choosing a perfume. The notes create the story of the fragrance and how they will evolve after you put them on.
Choose the Concentration
Do you want a strong and long lasting perfume or something lighter? What is your budget? Parfums are usually the most expensive kind as they last the longest and have the most concentration of oil. Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette are popular alternatives and come in a variety of choices.
Sample the Scents and Test it
Found a perfume you think you might come to love but still aren’t sure about it? Get the sample of it and try it out for a few hours. If you try a sample at the shop, try it on and wear it for a while to know how the fragrance will smell on you.
Ask for Opinions
After wearing a new scent, ask your family and friends what they think about it. Whether it suits you as a person or whether it is too overwhelming. Get a second opinion from people close to you to know how the perfume smells to others.
Remember, at the end of the day, the fragrance you choose should be something you like because you’re going to be the one to wear it. Don’t be afraid to try out new scents and combinations. Take your time and choose a perfume that can be your signature scent and makes you feel amazing every time you spritz some on.
